The vice champions of the Lithuanian A League Panevėžys have retained their former longtime coach Virginijus Liubšys within their ranks. After long deliberation, he decided to accept an offer to become the sports director of "Ekranas". The former coach will be responsible for organizing team training sessions, scouting, and searching for new players.

Having coached "Ekranas" for 17 years, Virginijus Liubšys became the national champion with the team in 1993 and 2005, and won the national cup in 1998 and 2000. He announced his decision to resign immediately after the last game of the previous season. The coach received an offer to become the sports director of the Panevėžys club right away, but only revealed his decision now.

"The club officials' offer to continue my career at 'Ekranas' delighted me greatly - it means that all these years I was here were not in vain," said V. Liubšys. He was replaced as the head coach of the team by Saulius Širmelis, who also leads the youth team.
