After signing a solid contract with the Los Angeles "Galaxy" club, David Beckham got a vacation - the coach and executives of the Madrid team decided that for the remaining 6 months of the contract, the English football star would no longer play in the ranks of the Royal club.
However, the leadership of the Madrid team did not stop there - by not allowing Beckham to play, they also unleashed a wave of criticism. "He will be a mediocre actor living in Hollywood. The best proof that we were right when we did not consider extending his contract is that no other club, except for "Galaxy", showed any interest in him," - said Real president Ramon Calderon when meeting with students from one of the Spanish universities.
The head of the Royal club did not spare criticism for other players and fans of his team: "All the "Real" players consider themselves superstars, and the fans do not support the team as they do in England or Italy."
After one of the Spanish radio stations made R. Calderon's quotes public, a wave of dissatisfaction arose. However, the president of "Real" apologized to "those who may have felt offended". Nonetheless, the Royal club did not forget to criticize the radio station for airing Calderon's thoughts.
