Italian club has confirmed rumors that they are interested in the forward of Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team, Ronaldo. However, the Italians would like to invite the footballer as a free agent, while his contract with "Real" is still valid until the summer of 2008.
Ronaldo started his career at the Brazilian club "Cruzeiro" in 1993, then moved to Europe and played for Eindhoven's "PSV", "Barcelona", and from 1997 to 2002 represented Milan's "Inter", from where he moved to "Real" for more than 30 million euros.
"There is a possibility to invite him and I cannot deny that. At the moment, we are waiting for a response from 'Real'. We want to sign a one and a half year contract with him and offer a much lower salary than what I read in the newspapers today. The offer is to take over his contract without any ransom fee," said the vice president of "Milan" club, Adriano Galliani.
The Milan club became interested in this Brazilian after the World Cup, but when the Royal club offered to exchange Ronaldo for Kaka, the Italian enthusiasm cooled down.
Lately, Ronaldo, who has received a lot of criticism for his poor form this season in "La Liga", has only appeared on the field three times due to coach Fabio Capello's decision. In total, he has played in 98 matches for "Real Madrid" and scored 69 goals, and holds the record for the most goals (14) in the history of World Cup finals.
A few days ago, the president of the Madrid club, Ramon Calderon, mentioned that it would be better for Ronaldo to leave for another club, as F. Capello cannot find a place for him on the field. However, according to R. Calderon, "the club is not planning to let Ronaldo go without any ransom fee."
According to some sources, in order to terminate Ronaldo's contract with "Real", a compensation of around 20 million euros would have to be paid, while "Milan" allegedly offers about 12 million.
