The club of the capital of Russia, Moscow, is strengthening for the upcoming new season and has acquired Ghanaian national team striker Asamoah Gyan from an Italian team for 9 million euros.
This season, no club in the Russian league has paid such sums. The price of this 21-year-old player was most likely determined by his 12 goals in 19 matches for the Ghana national team, including one goal in the World Cup, where the striker played three games.
It is believed that Moscow's "Spartak" club also fought for G. Asamoah's signature, while their 10 million euro acquisition, Fernando Cavenaghi, remains the record purchase among Russian clubs.
Prior to A. Gyan's transfer to the Moscow club, St. Petersburg's "Zenith" club twice broke the inter-club transfer record of this season in the Russian league. They acquired Pavel Pogrebnyak from Tomsk's "Tom" for 5 million euros, and later bought Argentine striker Alejandro Domínguez from Kazan's "Rubin" for 7 million euros.
Meanwhile, the club "Udinese", having sold their striker, strengthened their defense by acquiring Tomas Sivok from Prague. The 23-year-old footballer signed a four-year contract with his new club.
