On Saturday, two matches of the 20th round were played in the Italian league. "Atalanta" won away against the absolute league underdog "Ascoli", while "Palermo" had to settle for a draw against "Reggina".
"Ascoli", playing at home, caused a lot of problems for their opponents, but "Atalanta" scored two goals at the end of the match and turned all the hosts' efforts to at least get a point into nothing.
The visitors took the lead in the 51st minute. Riccardo Zampagna received a pass from his teammate Adriano and scored with a header to put his team ahead. However, "Ascoli" didn't give up and managed to equalize the score within twenty minutes. Michele Paolucci took advantage of a mistake by the opponent's Adriano and beat the goalkeeper.
"Ascoli" started besieging the opponents' goal, but without success - in the 84th minute Fernando Tissone lifted a corner towards the hosts' goal and the same Adriano headed the ball in, making up for his earlier mistake. "Atalanta" finally sealed the victory two minutes later when the top scorer of the season Cristiano Doni successfully finished a counterattack.
In the other match, the surprise team of the season "Palermo" failed to beat the team of "Reggina" away. The match ended in a goalless draw.
