The team received sad news - the Dutch defender Andre Ooijer suffered a serious leg injury and will no longer play this season. The 32-year-old footballer got injured yesterday during the match with "Manchester City" team ( "Blackburn" celebrated a 3-0 victory) - the defender broke his leg.
A.Ooijer suffered the injury after a duel with "Man City" forward Bernardo Corradi - the defender fell awkwardly on the green grass. Immediately after the incident, the pain contorted Ooijer's face and it became clear that the footballer had suffered a serious injury.
"I spoke with Andre. He was very disappointed, although this injury does not mean the end of his career. Fortunately, his knee is not as damaged as we thought," said A.Ooijer's father Willy van de Kerkhof. He also added that the "Blackburn" defender fractured his shin bone and tore ligaments.
The 32-year-old Dutchman moved to Blackburn's team last July from the Eindhoven "PSV" club. In the 2006 FIFA World Cup, A.Ooijer was a key player for the Netherlands national team.
