London team's head coach Arsene Wenger thanked his "lions" for their resistance in scoring a goal and achieving victory with a score of 2-1 against the leaders of the English Premier League club.
"We won because we didn't give up," said the coach about the victory secured through a goal scored by Thierry Henry in extra time.
"We started nervously, while Man Utd started maturely, but I knew that after the break we would get into the game. They scored a goal from the only chance they created in the first half, but we didn't give up, because we have "lions" in our team," continued A. Wenger.
The Frenchman added: "I think we played the game perfectly and the team was inspired."
Man Utd's head coach Sir Alex Ferguson spoke somewhat philosophically about the third defeat of his team this season in the Premier League.
"I am disappointed. We defended well - they played long balls and we intercepted them well. We conceded two goals from positions we didn't think we would concede from," said the coach.
"We have some important away games coming up and the team will return to the path of victories. You can be sure, we will not lose like this again," said S.A. Ferguson.
