The famous German footballer Jens Nowotny, due to constant knee injuries that plagued him for the past four years, has decided to end his professional football career. This season, the German represented the team "Dinamo" from Zagreb, Croatia.
J. Nowotny began his career in 1991 at the team "Karlsruher" and played 103 matches there. Moving to Leverkusen's "Bayer" in 1996, the 33-year-old defender represented them 231 times. In the German national team, J. Nowotny played 47 matches.
Since the beginning of 2003, constantly plagued by knee injury problems, the German moved to Zagreb's "Dinamo" before this season. However, in August, the footballer suffered a similar injury. Coming back to the field in October, he only played 10 matches before injuring his knee again.
"My career is over. I can't play anymore," - said Jens Nowotny, who last summer won the bronze medal at the World Cup with the German national team.
