London club will complement its ranks with a defender from Portugal, Ricardo Rocha, who played for Lisbon's "Benfica" club. This Portuguese club accepted an offer of £3.3 million (almost 5 million euros) for this 28-year-old center-back.
R. Rocha is set to undergo a medical examination in London in the near future and sign a 2.5-year contract with the new club. The Portuguese is thrilled to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League: "Playing in England is the fulfillment of my dreams."
R. Rocha started his career at the humble "Famalicao" club, later played for "Braga," and has represented "Benfica" since 2002. In this club, the defender played 81 matches and became a Portuguese champion in 2005. "Benfica" currently holds 3rd place in the Portuguese championship this season, but has already been eliminated from the Champions League competition. Meanwhile, "Tottenham" in England is in ninth place. Both clubs are participating in the UEFA Cup tournament.
R. Rocha has also played 6 matches for the Portuguese national team.
