The French club has decided to strengthen their attack and purchased a former forward of the Argentine youth national team from Moscow. The financial details of the transaction are not disclosed.
The 23-year-old Argentine, holding an Italian passport, for whom "Spartak" paid a record sum of 10 million euros to Buenos Aires' "River Plate" club in 2004, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with "Bordeaux."
"He is a very good player with many supporters, as well as being technical, and reminds me of Marco Simone (former "Milan" forward)," said "Bordeaux" coach Ricardo Gomes about the newcomer.
F. Cavenaghi started his career at the "River Plate" club, where he scored 55 goals in 88 matches and was considered one of the most promising players in Argentina. The battle for the striker's signature was won by "Spartak," but adapting to Russian football was tough and in 62 games he only scored 17 times.
The new team of the Argentine, "Bordeaux," this season, like "Spartak," participated in the Champions League and after finishing third in the group, they got the opportunity to play in the UEFA Europa League, where in February they will face "Osasuna" in the Round of 16. In the French league, Bordeaux currently shares 7-8 place with 30 points.
