It seems that punishments for racist behavior by fans in Spain are becoming a tradition - this time, a Madrid club has been punished. The fans of the latter committed the offense during last Saturday's match against Pamplona, when they tried to insult Cameroonian forward Pierre Webo by imitating monkey sounds.
However, the fans of the Madrid club did not stop there - two batteries were thrown at the linesman, and several plastic bottles onto the field. The Spanish Football Federation did not disclose the amount of the fine, but even threatened to close the stadium for Atletico's team. Recently, another Madrid club - [insert club name here] - received a similar warning.
Last Saturday's incident was by no means the first outburst by Atletico fans. Last year, the club was fined €3,000 for throwing a firecracker at "Sevilla" goalkeeper Andres Palop and €6,000 for racially insulting Cameroonian goalkeeper Carlos Kameni from the "Espanyol" team.
