On Wednesday, in a friendly match in Klaipėda, Marijampolė met the local team "Atlantas" and claimed an easy victory with a score of 4-0.
The match was supposed to take place in Palanga, but due to the snow that had not been cleared at this city's stadium, it was rescheduled to the backup "Žvyro" field in the port city.
Despite being the visitors, "Sūduva" took control of the game from the beginning, but for a while, they struggled to create opportunities to score.
The first goal for "Sūduva" came in the 18th minute after a pass from the wing, scored from a few meters away by the 22-year-old forward Vitalijus Šuganovas from Belarus.
At the end of the first half, following a quick counterattack by the Marijampolė club, Šarūnas Litvinas passed the ball to Giedrius Slavickas who, from three meters away, doubled the visitors' lead by beating the "Atlantas" goalkeeper Mindaugas Maksvytis.
In the second half, a similar game continued, and "Sūduva" sealed their dominant victory as the match approached its end. The team's newcomer Gvidas Juška scored in the 77th minute with a second attempt, and in the last minute, after a pass from Darius Maciulevičius, he ran past a defender and sent the ball into the net.
However, "Sūduva" finished the match with ten players, as in the 78th minute, Marijampolė defender Karolis Jasaitis was sent off the field. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the team from winning with a score of 4-0.
Asked about Litvinas' participation in the review, "Sūduva" coach Algimantas Gabrys neither confirmed nor denied the news: "He came and played for us, but for now, I don't know anything about him, we'll see."
"The guys fought and won, maybe we were just luckier," the coach said about the match.
On Saturday, January 27th, in Klaipėda, "Sūduva" and "Atlantas" will meet again.
