Liverpool defender Simon Davies is leaving his team and moving to Fulham. Financial details of the transfer are not officially announced.
The Welsh national team member transferred from Tottenham to Everton in 2005 for 3.5 million pounds sterling. However, he did not succeed in fitting in with the "Toffees" - he played 53 matches as a defender and scored only 1 goal.
"The football promoted by Chris Coleman (Fulham's coach, - ed.) will help me find my playing style. I wanted to return to London and I am happy to move to Fulham. I will do everything I can for my new team and coach Ch. Coleman, whom I admire," said 27-year-old S. Davies, whose contract with Everton was valid until 2010.
Meanwhile, Fulham, currently occupying the 15th place in the English championship, did not hide their satisfaction with the new team member. "Simon is a very versatile footballer, capable of playing both central defender and right back, as well as midfielder. He makes great passes and has a lot of energy. Simon's age is very good. I believe his best years are still ahead of him and he will help us," C. Coleman listed S. Davies' strengths.
Fulham has recently had quite a few problems with their defensive players - Luis Boa Morte moved to West Ham, Papa Bouba Diop is currently out of form, and Jimmy Bullard is recovering from a knee injury. Simon Davies is the second defensive purchase for Fulham this month - earlier, the team was bolstered by American Clint Dempsey.
