Today it became clear that Ludovic Giuly will not be able to help the French national team in the upcoming European Championship. As we reported earlier, the forward suffered an injury during the Champions League final a couple of days ago, in which his team lost to the club.
After medical examinations, it was determined that Giuly will not be able to play for about six weeks due to an abdominal muscle injury, so head coach Jacques Santini decided to replace him with another forward.
Today France played a friendly "warm-up" match against Andorra and won 4-0. Sylvain Wiltord scored twice, while Louis Saha and Steve Marlet each scored one goal. After this match, Santini confirmed that Giuly will not play in the championship: "We thought of keeping Ludo, but his recovery period is too long."
