According to the English press, the two most powerful Italian "Serie A" clubs Milan and Inter are interested in England's national team and London team's safe Frank Lampard, as they have learned that the Englishman could leave the "Blues" for a sum of 8 million pounds sterling.
The 28-year-old F. Lampard has not yet signed a new contract with Chelsea and therefore, according to little-known FIFA rules, can leave the team coached by Jose Mourinho.
"Is it true? Frank Lampard for only 8 million pounds? If that is the amount, it is very interesting news," Milan club's general director Ariedo Braida told the "Mail on Sunday" newspaper.
The newspaper also writes that the head coach of Milan Inter Roberto Mancini has also expressed interest in the England national team star.
According to FIFA rules, players who signed a three-year contract before the age of 28 can buy out the contract within 15 days.
Meanwhile, the player's agent Steve Kutner recently said that negotiations between former West Ham player and Chelsea for contract extension are only in the early stages.
This news immediately attracted the attention of Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, but it is also claimed that both Milan clubs have joined the hunt for the player.
"Lampard is a very good player, one of the best in the world, and I knew nothing about such a situation," added A. Braida.
F. Lampard began his professional football career in 1994 at West Ham and in May 2001 joined Chelsea for an additional 11 million pounds sterling.
