According to the Dutch press agency ANP, former Dutch national team defender Edgar Davids is leaving an English club and moving to Amsterdam.
The 33-year-old defender lost his place in the main squad of the team led by Martino Jol this season and expressed his desire to leave the team. Immediately, the Amsterdam club took advantage of this, offering the player an 18-month contract. It is reported that Davids will undergo a medical examination this week and make his debut in the next round match of the Dutch league against "Feyenoord."
Davids began his professional football career at "Ajax," with whom he won three Dutch championship titles, the UEFA Cup, and became a UEFA Champions League winner. The player then went on to play for European football giants such as Turin's "Juventus," "Barcelona," and Milan's "Inter."
Two years ago, the player moved to the English Premier League and had been representing Tottenham, helping them qualify for the UEFA Europa League last season.
Meanwhile, "Ajax" currently holds the second position in the Dutch league after 22 rounds, trailing "PSV" by eight points and just one point ahead of Alkmaar's "AZ" team in third place.
