Liverpool, until the end of this season, borrowed Manuel Fernandes from Benfica in Lisbon, who played for Portsmouth in the first part of the season.

According to the Portuguese club, this twenty-year-old midfielder, who has a contract with Benfica until 2011, is on loan to Everton until the end of this season.

M. Fernandes started his career at Benfica in 2004 and became a key player in the main squad, playing 67 matches. However, before this season, he was loaned to Portsmouth, where he represented the team 12 times and scored one goal in the League Cup tournament. The footballer also has two appearances for the Portuguese national team and one goal.

Everton, currently in 7th place in the Premier League, recently lost two of their attacking leaders - Andy Johnson will be out for about a month due to a shin injury, while James McFadden, who broke his leg, will be out for a longer period.
