The mid-table club of the English Premier League has announced that they will soon be joined by South Korean national team forward Lee Dong-Gook.
The 27-year-old footballer flew to England this Monday to join his new team mates. Lee Dong-Gook will be the fourth Korean to play in the Premier League. So far, the league has seen representation from Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United, Lee Young-Pyo of Tottenham, and Seol Ki-Hyeon of Reading.
"People in Korea want to hear that I will score goals and I am ready to do that," the forward told journalists before flying to England. "I am very happy to finally have the opportunity to play in England."
Despite being the top scorer of the South Korean national team during the qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the player had to miss the tournament due to a knee ligament injury suffered while playing for his hometown club, Pohang Steelers.
The footballer also did not participate in the 2002 World Cup held in his homeland, as he was unable to face the Dutch coach Guus Hiddink who was leading the team at that time.
