Coach Sir Alex Ferguson has proposed the use of video technology for referees in controversial situations in English Premier League matches. Manchester teams were concerned after last weekend's English Cup match against Portsmouth, where referees did not count two "United" goals in disputed episodes, scored by Henrik Larsson and Nemanja Vidic. Television replays showed that the goals were scored without breaking any rules. "Football should open its eyes wide and not resist the introduction of technology. Video replay review would be useful even when there is a 99 percent certainty that the ball crossed the goal line," Ferguson said to "Man Utd" radio. The coach cited the last World Cup as an example of the advantage of this innovation. "Because Zinedine Zidane was sent off the field only after reviewing the video replay. Still, I think this innovation will eventually come. Maybe not in my time, maybe later, but it will come," Ferguson said.
