Before the new season of the "A Lyga" championship, after Kaunas team "Rodiklis" refused to participate, the only newcomer in Lithuania's top league could be the club "Interas" from Visaginas, which continues to participate in the licensing process of the Lithuanian Football Federation and hopes to have their stadium ready to play home matches.

According to the club administrator Virginijus Bukauskas, the team is training intensively and may play friendly matches in just a couple of weeks. Since most of the "Interas" players are from Vilnius, the training sessions take place in Vilnius, at the Sportima arena. The team is coached by experienced specialist Algis Biliūnas.

"Our biggest wish is to return to play in Visaginas," V. Bukauskas told EuroFootball.com.

The municipality of Visaginas has planned to allocate 200 thousand litas from the budget for the renovation of the city's stadium and promised to help the club as much as possible to popularize football in their city. An agreement regarding the stadium renovation should be signed by February 25.

According to the club representatives, the team is not yet fully formed, as negotiations are ongoing for a goalkeeper and other positions players. Although this year the new "A Lyga" team is not able to attract foreign players, the club has ambitions to climb to the 7-8 positions in the league.
