Argentinian national team and London club defender Javier Mascherano should officially become a member today, as he has received a special FIFA permission to play for a third club this season.
According to FIFA rules, a player cannot represent more than two different clubs in a season, and Mascherano has already played for "Corinthians" besides the London club this year. Earlier, "Liverpool" sent a special letter to FIFA officials requesting an exclusive permission, and their request was approved.
"FIFA has decided that Javier Mascherano can represent the Liverpool team in official matches and can do so immediately," states the official FIFA announcement.
The 22-year-old defender arrived in London together with his compatriot Carlos Tevez just before the transfer window closed, but he did not fit into the team. It is worth mentioning that since the match against "Tottenham" on October 22, Mascherano has played only six minutes on the pitch in official matches.
