Newly crowned Spanish champion Ruben Baraja, one of the leaders, believes that this year in the European Championship Spain will have the best chances in the past decades to win.
Football experts believe that this Valencia defender will be one of the leaders of Spain in this year's European Championship in Portugal.
"Our team is the strongest it has been in recent years," Baraja said. "The most important thing is to be in the right mindset and show what we can do as a team."
"Our first goal is to advance from the group, and then there will be many more opportunities," optimistically said the Valencia defender.
Spain will play in Group A of the European Championship along with the national teams of Russia, Greece, and Portugal. The Spanish team will play their first match against Russia on June 12th, but Baraja had no doubts about who will be Spain's main opponent in this group.
"The most important thing is to defeat Portugal," said the 28-year-old Spaniard. "They will play at home, and they have some really capable players in their team."
Asked to predict the group's results, Baraja replied: "Both us and Portugal will be favorites to progress further."
