The English Football Association has announced that the national youth team (up to 21 years old) will be led by head coach Stuart Pearce, who will replace Peter Taylor, the former manager of the team and recently left his position in the national team to become the strategist for "Crystal Palace".
The 44-year-old coach's debut in the England youth team is set to take place next week when England faces Spain in a friendly match. In addition, S. Pearce will also lead England in this year's European youth (U-21) championship taking place in the summer.
The Football Association (FA) officially reached a compromise with the "Man City" club to allow S. Pearce to take on work with the national team.
Trying to calm "City's" concerns that this would interfere during the important "Premier" league matches, FA officials allowed the coach to skip one friendly match with the national team in March.
Nigel Pearson, the coach of the "Newcastle" team, will be the assistant to S. Pearce in leading the England youth team.
"It is a huge honor for me," former England national team defender S. Pearce rejoiced. "I was planning to participate in the tournament in June and watch the players. Now I will have a great opportunity to get more benefit from the tournament, as I will work with the best young players in the country and learn from coaches from various countries."
