Due to competing for the highest positions in the English Premier League, the club announced on Saturday that they managed to sign a contract with the promising defender from Paraguay, Ronaldo Huth, just before the winter transfer window closed.

As reported, the 17-year-old defender signed a two and a half year contract with the English club. So far, the player has represented his home country's team, "Tacuary."

Huth is the third player to join the Liverpool team in the final days of the transfer window. Earlier, the club signed contracts with two young Spaniards - Francisco Duran from "Malaga" and Alvaro Arbeloa from "Deportivo."

Liverpool also managed to register Argentine national team midfielder Javier Mascherano, but the player is not yet eligible to play for the Liverpool team.
