On Saturday evening, a large crowd gathered at the Vilnius Sportsimas arena to watch a friendly capital derby between the significantly strengthened "Vėtra" and "Vilnius" teams, who are preparing for the season in Turkey. The match attracted no fewer spectators than some of the "A Lyga" games. The match had a special significance as both teams will share one stadium in the upcoming season
Early pressure put "Vėtra" down after only six minutes, when Brazilian defensive midfielder Andreson scored a penalty goal to put his team in the lead. This wake-up call seemed to stimulate the "Vėtra" players, and they started attacking - newcomer Lima Severino was particularly active, and Macedonian Dejan Milošeskis tried his luck from distance.
However, in the middle of the first half, "Vilnius" doubled their lead when they once again capitalized on a set piece - Brazilian forward Kleyr scored with a header after a corner kick.
Trailing 2-0, "Vėtra" players focused more on the attack - Lima Severino and Vitalis Stankevičius tested the "Vilnius" goalkeeper, but the "Vilnius" players successfully exploited gaps in defense. Algis Jankauskas tried to clear the ball to goalkeeper Vaidas Žutautas, but the newly appointed captain of the "red" team, Aivaras Laurišas, scored with a deflected shot.
Although Nerijus Sasnauskas dangerously took a penalty shot during another attack, the first half ended 3-0.
"Vėtra" coach Alexander Tarchanov's dissatisfaction with the defensive line was evident, and the changes made during half-time - Gediminas Butrimavičius and Pedro replaced Almir Sulejmanovič and Marijano Budimir.
At the start of the second half, Dejan Milošeskis took a dangerous penalty shot, later Lima Severino found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper after a pass from G.Butrimavičius, but the fourth goal of the match fell into the "Vėtra" net - in the middle of the second half, "Vilnius" forward from Nigeria, Akanni Wasiu, scored with a powerful shot from near the penalty area.
Despite a goal to soften the score by Vitalis Stankevičius, who transferred from "Nevėžis," "Vėtra's" hopes of achieving something in this match collapsed in the 73rd minute when Mindaugas Panka, who used to wear the "Vilnius" jersey last season, received a red card for a harsh foul on Kleyr during a fast "Vilnius" attack.
With less than ten minutes left to play, Kleyr scored the fifth goal for "Vilnius," as he found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper after a defensive mistake and successfully beat him with a precise shot into the corner of the goal.
However, the match ended with a beautiful goal from "Vėtra" - V.Stankevičius, who has become the most productive player in pre-season matches, softened the score with a shot from 18 meters into the top corner of the goal.
