In the next season of the Lithuanian "A Lyga", the team that will be playing will change stadiums - the club's leaders have decided to leave the legendary old "Žalgiris" stadium and move to the recently renovated "Vėtra" arena.
"Yes, we plan to play at the "Vėtra" stadium," said "Vilnius" president Algimantas Breikštas to EuroFootball.com. "At the moment we are still in negotiations, but we have already agreed on everything in a friendly manner, we just need to sign the contract. If the owners of this stadium don't agree with us, we will definitely play at the "Vėtra" field next season."
When asked what influenced this decision, A.Breikštas said: "We want to play in a newer and more cozy stadium for football, because the stands at "Vėtra" are closer to the field, there are no running tracks. It's just more pleasant for the spectators to watch the matches there."
The leader of the capital's club, founded in 2003, also added that he dreams of building his own stadium in the future, but currently the Vilnius municipality cannot find a place for this purpose.
"We dream a lot about it, but we don't have a place that the city would allocate to us," said A.Breikštas.
It is worth mentioning that last season in the Lithuanian football championship, "Vilnius" finished in seventh place.
