The hosts took the lead first when Dave MacKay scored with a header after 18 minutes from a penalty kick.
Celtic soon increased the pace and didn't have to wait long for the results. In the 30th minute, the goalkeeper parried a header from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, but Darren O'Dea was the first to react to the ball and sent it into the net, celebrating his 20th birthday.
Just before the break, the visitors turned the result around - Derek Riordan made a superb shot from the left edge into the far corner of the goal.
Former Hibernian forward scored the third team goal after a pass by Shunsuke Nakamura. Just a couple of minutes later, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored, making the end of the match clear.
