Spanish media claims that the Madrid club of the "Primera" league is seriously interested in acquiring Liverpool's safe Mikeliu Arteta this summer.
The 24-year-old player, who this season is one of the most important members of the Everton team and attackers, has already scored 6 goals in the Premier League, so the skills of the Spaniard have not gone unnoticed in his homeland.
According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", Madrid's "Atletico" club director Miguel Angel Gilas Marinas met with the player after Saturday's Liverpool derby with "Liverpool", which ended in a draw.
It is believed that M.A. Marinas spoke to the player about a possible move to "Atletico" after the end of this season.
Officially, the "Atletico" club has not announced anything about it yet, while M.Arteta himself recently stated that he wants to continue representing the team led by David Moyes. Although his current contract is valid until 2009, he is ready to negotiate a new contract this summer.
