According to the president of the Buenos Aires club, Mauricio Macri, the team's defender Juan Roman Riquelme will be loaned to the Argentinos team until the end of the season.

"I am happy because we have agreed on Riquelme's return to the club," M. Macri's words are quoted on the official "Boca Juniors" team website, where it is also added that the agreement depends on "Villarreal" agreeing to Boca Juniors' proposal.

The Spanish media reported that the Argentine, playing for the "Boca Juniors" team, will earn two million US dollars.

"Villarreal" coach Manuel Pellegrini kept J.R. Riquelme on the bench since the beginning of the season, as he was dissatisfied with the player's dedication to work despite the privileges granted to him that other players did not have.

The 28-year-old defender is considered one of the most talented players in the "Primera" league and last season helped "The Yellow Submarine" reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, where in the match against "Arsenal" he missed a crucial penalty from eleven meters.

Wearing the "Boca Juniors" jersey from 1996 to 2002, J.R. Riquelme became the champion of the highest Argentine league three times and won the "Libertadores" Cup twice.

In 2002, Barcelona bought the player for 11 million euros, but he failed to establish himself in the main lineup. The following season, when Ronaldinho arrived at the Catalan team, the Argentine was loaned to the Villarreal team, where the whole game was built around him.

Last September, the defender announced his retirement from the national team. He justified his decision by saying that the criticism he received regarding his performance in the 2006 World Cup affected his mother's health.
