V.Stankevičius: "The most important thing is the team's victory" © EuroFootball.com

Before the season, the forward who joined the Vilnius club becomes one of the team's leaders. During the four friendly matches, V. Stankevičius has already scored against the opponent's goalkeepers three times. The newcomer scored his first goal against the goal of the most titled Russian club Moscow "Spartak".

- What were your first impressions representing "Vėtra", how did the team welcome you as a newcomer? - Everything is very good, I am satisfied with everything. The team greeted me friendly, I get along well with everyone. I already knew a few "Vėtra" players before, they helped me to fit into the team. It was really easy to adapt. The players in the club have excellent conditions, both for training and for medical care and rehabilitation. I am already leaving for the second camp in Turkey, where there are ideal conditions for preparation - excellent training grounds, strong opponents.

- Does the preparation for the season and training at "Vėtra" differ from other teams you have represented before? - It certainly is different. It's very interesting to work with coach Tarchanov. It’s interesting because you immediately feel that he is an intelligent coach, where you don't have to run in training just to run or do something just to do it. Everything is done purposefully in training, we work a lot with the ball. I like it because I prefer working with the ball rather than running. It contributes to improvement, I feel that my game is progressing.

- You have already played four friendly matches, are you satisfied with the results? - When playing, you always hope for victories. However, in Turkey, we played against very strong opponents, so I think the results are not bad. We did not succeed in the match against "Vilnium", but there were several justifiable reasons for that. We are not used to playing on artificial turf, and there was a lack of motivation. We were already living the mood of the upcoming camp and trip, so we thought less about these specific matches. It will certainly not be like that in the championship, as the attitude towards each match is completely different. Therefore, there is no need to emphasize this meeting.

- You have already scored three goals in friendly matches, did you expect such a successful debut within "Vėtra"? - I try to score in every match. The coach trusts me, and I am pleased to justify this trust by scoring goals. So far, things are going well, but these are just friendly matches. The future will show how it will go in official competitions. I will try to score as many goals as possible, but the most important thing is the team's victories.
