The head coach of the Madrid club in the Spanish "Primera" league, Fabio Capello, has brought back David Beckham to the lineup of the "royal" team and praised the former captain of the English national team for his professionalism.
The specialist from Italy stated firmly in the middle of last month that the 31-year-old footballer would never play for his team again, as Beckham announced he would be moving to the Los Angeles "Galaxy" club in the MLS league this summer. However, the "Real" coach denied rumors that he gave in to the requests of many key team players to bring Beckham back to the lineup, and reconsidered due to recent poor results.
"We doubted whether he would be able to train with the same enthusiasm as before, but he acted like a true professional," said the 60-year-old coach. Beckham has not played with "Real" since January, when he announced that he would leave the team after the end of his three-year contract and move across the Atlantic.
During these six matches, the "Real" club won only two games, suffered two defeats, and played two draws. Both defeats came in the last two matches against "Villarreal" and Valencia's "Levante," and therefore Madrid's club is now five points behind the leaders, Barcelona.
Real's team captain, Raul, helped organize a group of players who expressed support for Beckham for a few weeks, stating that the Englishman should continue to play in the team until his contract expires. However, coach F. Capello insists that bringing back the former "Man Utd" player to the "Real" lineup was only his personal opinion.
"We had serious doubts after he signed such an important contract with a US club," said the Italian. - "We were worried if he would continue to have the enthusiasm to train, but we saw that he is able to train perfectly.
