This time, the English Premier League player of the month for January was chosen to be the Spanish national team and Arsenal's defender Cesc Fabregas, while the best coach of the month was recognized as Liverpool's manager Rafael Benitez.
The 19-year-old C. Fabregas brilliantly directed the team's attacks in the middle of the field in January, and that is exactly why he was awarded the title of the best player of the month.
In the past month, "Arsenal," which stood out for the abundance of matches, managed to win three victories in three championship matches, with the young Spanish talent C. Fabregas contributing the most to those victories.
The "Gunners" crushed "Charlton" 4-0, defeated "Blackburn," and beat the Premier League leaders, "Man Utd," 2-1 with a winning goal scored by Thierry Henry during extra time.
"Fabregas is quickly becoming one of the most popular players in European football," said Premier League awards presenter Jim Hytner. "He strengthened Arsene Wenger's team's midfield line and deserves the best player award for his excellent form demonstrated in January."
Currently, the "Arsenal" team has 46 points after 25 matches, occupying the 4th position.
Meanwhile, for the first time this season, the best coach was recognized as Spanish manager Rafa Benitez of the Liverpool team. Liverpool won four out of four matches in January, earning recognition for the coach.
R. Benitez's team started the year in 2007 with victories against "Bolton" and "Watford," winning 3-0 in both matches. This was followed by a revenge victory against "Chelsea," beating Jose Mourinho's team 2-0 at their own arena, and finishing January with a 2-1 victory against London's "West Ham."
"These New Year's have been very successful for the Liverpool team. They have never lost and have only conceded one goal, so their coach R. Benitez truly deserves this award," added J. Hytner.
The Liverpool team, after a slow start to the season, now have 50 points and sit in 3rd place.
