The French champions' club has almost reached an agreement with regarding their forward Pierre-Alain Frau's transfer.
The 24-year-old Frenchman has already agreed to the contract terms offered by Lyon and is now waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement so he can move to Lyon.
Sochaux president Jean-Claude Plessis also confirmed that Frau is almost at Lyon. He added that another Sochaux attacking leader, Benoit Pedretti, will play in the Europa League final next season.
"We have already reached an agreement with Lyon," Plessis said. "Everything is almost settled, but for now I don't want to disclose the amount we will receive for Pierre."
"We have also reached an agreement with Marseille for Pedretti's transfer. Despite it being regrettable to lose both leaders at once, we couldn't keep them. This might be a historic opportunity for both of them."
Frau himself stated that the main reason he chose Lyon over Marseille, which was also interested in him, was that only playing in the French champion's ranks gives him the opportunity to break into the French national team.
"Why Lyon?" Frau wondered. "Just look at this club's results over the past three seasons, and that should be enough."
"They have been the best for the past few years, they will play in the Champions League next season, and playing for them I will have a great opportunity to attract the attention of the French national team scouts. That's all I need," the player rejoiced.
