Matches of the 24th round of the French championship on Sunday went successfully for the footballers of "Lens" - they confidently defeated the "Sochaux" team at home and increased their advantage over "Lille", which is in third place, as well as distanced themselves from "Marseille", who are in fourth position and experienced a failure away against "Bordeaux".

In the match against the "Sochaux" team, the "Lens" club already gained a convincing lead in the first half after scoring two goals in a couple of minutes - in the 28th minute, defender Vitorino Hilton scored a header after a penalty kick by the newcomer Olivier Monterrubio, and a few minutes later team captain Malian Seydou Keita scored after receiving a pass from the flank.

After about an hour played, the hosts added a third goal after a pass from O. Monterrubio, with Ivory Coast's national team striker Aruna Dindane breaking free one on one and beating the goalkeeper. With five minutes left, the guests scored a consolation goal from Serbian defender Dusko Tosic, but "Lens" still won 3-1 and achieved their first home victory since the beginning of December.

Meanwhile, "Marseille", who have not won in Aquitaine for 30 years, continued their unsuccessful streak in Bordeaux and had to admit the superiority of the local team. The winning goal for "Bordeaux" was scored in the 75th minute by Julien Faubert, whose accurate shot helped the team rise to seventh place and reduce the gap from "Marseille" to one point.
