On Tuesday, the draw for the European Under-21 Championship qualifiers took place in the Swedish capital, Stockholm. 51 national teams were divided into 10 groups.
Lithuanian footballers were placed in Group 6 along with their peers from Denmark, Slovenia, Finland, and Scotland.
The qualifying matches will take place from June 2nd of this year to September 10, 2008. 14 national teams will advance to the next stage – the winners of all groups, as well as the four best teams to finish in second place.
They will be divided into 7 pairs, and the winners of these pairs will advance to the final tournament in Sweden.
The hosts of the championship do not need to play in the qualifiers.
