On Sunday morning, a powerful explosion rocked the stadium of this year's UEFA Champions League finalist. It was the first attack of this kind in the entire club's history.
The bomb was placed near the main entrance to the Stade Louis II stadium, but when it exploded, no major damage was done. Only a few surrounding buildings were damaged, and there were no casualties.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for this attack, which shocked Monaco's Minister of Internal Affairs, Jose Badia.
"This is the first time such an attack has been carried out in Monaco," said Badia. "Immediately after the explosion, we took security measures, so now people can feel safe. It is also a relief that we were able to avoid casualties."
