Latvia's vice-champion, the Lithuanian legion of Liepaja, may be supplemented by another player from our country - the team coached by Benjamin Zelkevičius will include Lithuania's youth national team striker Artūras Jeršovas.
According to the official "Metalurgs" website, the 20-year-old A. Jeršovas has been included in the selection of 23 players chosen by Benjamin Zelkevičius, who traveled to the training camp in Cyprus. It is stated that during the camp, players will have to prove their worth to the team and then decisions will be made on who to sign contracts with.
In addition to A. Jeršovas, the list of players also includes Lithuanians who represented the Liepaja team last season - defenders Darius Miceika, Tomas Tamošauskas, Vadimas Petrenka, Mindaugas Kalonas, and striker Nerijus Astrauskas, who also moved from the "Vilnius" club to "Metalurgs."
"Metalurgs" in Cyprus is preparing to play at least four friendly matches with Czech and Slovak clubs from February 19-28, and to conclude the camp on March 2. The Baltic Football League matches, where the Latvian team will compete in the same group with Tallinn's "Levadia" and Vilnius' "Žalgiris," will begin on March 7.
