The head coach of the Spanish "Primera" league team Real Madrid, Fabio Capello, defended his player David Beckham after the former captain of the English national team received a red card and was sent off the field in the 0-0 draw against Sevilla's "Betis" on Saturday.
For the 31-year-old player, this was his second match in the lineup for Real after he announced that he would be moving to Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer. In the final minute of the match against Betis, Beckham lost the ball on the opponent's side of the field and pushed Isidoro from behind, resulting in the referee immediately showing him a red card.
The coach of the "Royal" club, F. Capello, believes that the match referee was biased against the former Manchester United star.
"This year the referees are not on our side at all," said the Italian specialist to the media. "Before that incident, there was a foul against David and I think the referee acted too quickly in showing him the red card. I saw it on television and I don't think his mistake was deserving of a red card."
The 60-year-old coach, who had previously stated that he would never again trust Beckham after he announced he would leave Real at the end of the season, brought the Englishman back into the team last week, and in the last 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad, he scored an equalizing goal with an impressive penalty kick.
For the former England national team defender, this was the fifth red card while wearing the Real jersey and the eighth in his entire football career.
After losing two points on Saturday, the Real team maintains third place and is four points behind the leaders Barcelona, but both the latter and Sevilla in second place have not yet played their Sunday matches.
