According to the Lithuanian Football Federation, Lithuania's first Football Academy was opened in Kaunas almost two weeks ago. The main goal of the academy is to implement the youth national teams training program and prepare young talents for a professional soccer player career.

At the moment, the academy has two groups of young football players. The first group consists of boys born in 1993 (coached by Rimvydas Kochanauskas), and the second - born in 1992 (coached by Rolandas Čepkauskas). The academy's students were selected from all over Lithuania during the selection process, which took place in January in two stages. Currently, seventeen boys born in 1992 and eighteen boys born in 1993 attend the Football Academy.

In the modernly equipped premises of the first Football Academy in Lithuania, the academy's students live in excellently adapted double rooms, each group has equipped computerized classrooms for lessons and lesson preparation. In addition, young football players spend their free time watching television programs and DVDs, and browsing the virtual internet world.

The Kaunas city municipality provided the opportunity for the academy's students to attend Salomėja Nėris Secondary School, located next to the Football Academy. Young football players study in two formed classes - 7th and 8th grades, for which the school's director V. Janiūnas created favorable conditions for studying according to a specially designed schedule adapted to football training.

Every day, the selected football players train in the renovated Football Hall, which has a changed surface, and in a modern physical fitness gym.
