Rafael Benitez, who led "Valencia" to new heights this season and became one of the most valued coaches in Spain, has decided to terminate his contract with the club and will likely move to "unknown club".
"I can confirm that Rafael Benitez will not remain as the coach of the "Valencia" club, as the club owners and he have decided to go their separate ways," said a club representative to the press.
"Valencia" has been the leaders in Spain for the past three years, winning two "La Liga" titles, this year's UEFA Cup, and all this was under Benitez's leadership. Now he is stepping down, and Claudio Ranieri, who was recently dismissed from "Chelsea", could be his successor.
Benitez's departure was influenced by the club's pressure to extend his contract for another two years, and now he may have a good opportunity to become the strategist of an English club. There is a vacant head coach position at "Liverpool" as Gerard Houllier was recently dismissed. However, the club is not in a rush and says that an announcement regarding a new coach will be made in about two weeks.
