The Spanish "Primera" league club received sad news - Spanish national team goalkeeper Marcos Senna suffered a thigh injury and as a result dropped out of the lineup for three weeks.
The 30-year-old footballer, in the 24th round of the country's championship on Sunday in the 2-1 victory against "Mallorca", collided with opponent defender Sergio Ballesteros and suffered an injury which forced him to leave the field.
On Monday, the player underwent tests confirming that the Brazilian legionnaire will not be able to help his team for about three weeks.
M. Senna became the fourth injured player of Manuel Pellegrini's "Villarreal" team. Besides him, injuries have also been suffered by Italian defender Alessio Tacchinardi, defender Juan Manuel Pena, and goalkeeper Damian Barbarosa.
"Villarreal", who managed to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League last season and reach the semifinals, is currently only in 12th place in the league standings.
