Long-time head coach of the English Premier League leader club, Sir Alex Ferguson, expressed his desire to remain in his position for at least a couple more years.
The 65-year-old Scottish specialist, who announced five years ago that he intended to leave the two-time European champion Manchester United but later changed his mind, currently leads the team which is currently in the top spot of the English Premier League and is close to reclaiming the title of the strongest team in the league after a four-year hiatus.
"I decided to leave my post in 2002, but I regretted it very much. When I changed my mind, it gave me new strength," said the coach leading the Manchester United team for 20 years. – "My retirement can wait. There will still be things to do over the coming years."
Ferguson also stated that Liverpool, by eliminating the defending champions Barcelona in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, could awaken the "Red Devils" ambitions in the elite European tournament.
"If Barcelona wins against the Liverpool team in their arena, they will be favorites, but at Anfield stadium they will face a practically impossible task," added the Scotsman. – "If the Spanish club is eliminated, all the remaining teams, such as Milan, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, could reach the final of the tournament."
Ferguson joined Manchester United in 1986 when the club was in second to last place in the championship and could have been relegated to a lower league. However, the ambitious and disciplined strategist managed to save the club and during his years at the helm, he won eight Premier League trophies, five FA Cups, and once each won the League Cup and UEFA Champions League in 1999 with the club.
