Spanish national team and Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado may miss part of the upcoming European Championship due to a foot injury.
After yesterday's training session, the defender felt pain. After more detailed medical examinations, a tear in the muscle fibers was found in Salgado's left leg.
Today the player will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging, after which it should be clearer how long he will be unable to play. However, regardless of the results of the examinations, Salgado will have to miss at least 2 weeks. He will have to miss the friendly match against Andorra on Saturday and the first Euro 2004 match against Russia on June 12th.
The team doctor, Genaro Borrasas, said: "We will examine him tomorrow and decide what to do next. Nevertheless, I do not think that this is such a serious injury that would prevent him from participating in such an important tournament."
