Plans of the Edinburgh team to expand their "Tynecastle" stadium have moved closer to reality, as the City Council of Scotland's capital officially approved the acquisition of land next to the stadium. The deal, valued at 6 million pounds (over 30 million litas), can now officially proceed. The next step for the Hearts management will be to obtain permission to build a new main stand. This stand would increase the capacity of Tynecastle to 26 thousand seats, compared to its current capacity of just over 18 thousand spectators.
Hearts plan to continue expanding the stadium in the future, with the goal of reaching an arena that can accommodate 40 thousand seats. Responding to the City Council's decision, a representative of Hearts said: "This is a very important event and a great day for the club. We are very pleased with today's decision. The fact that everyone is working together for the benefit of the community and the wider city is very encouraging and gives us hope. Our investments in Tynecastle Stadium will be just one part of a huge arena redevelopment plan. We will be involved throughout the entire process."
"There is still a lot of work to do, but we will continue to collaborate with all parties to make Tynecastle and the surrounding areas a vibrant and modern part of the city."
