Milan's "Inter" forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic will once again unsettle not only the defenders of his club's opponents, but also all future opponents of the Swedish national team. The player assured his country's Football Federation that he is ready to defend Sweden's honor in international competitions.
"In order to represent the Swedish national team, one must be one hundred percent motivated and prepared to fulfill all requirements," said Swedish national team strategist Lars Lagerback. "Zlatan Ibrahimovic has found reasons in himself why he is ready to represent the team once again."
Ibrahimovic has not represented the national team since September, when he was removed from the squad before the match against Liechtenstein because he did not return to the hotel with two teammates at the time set by the coach. After this incident, the Swede either declined the call-up or was not called up at all to the national team.
In the qualification for the 2008 European Championship, the Swedish national team, collecting 12 points, leads Group F. They are ahead of Denmark and Northern Ireland, both with 7 points each, which are their geographic neighbors and closest rivals. Sweden will play against Northern Ireland on March 28.
