Former Portugal national team striker Pedro Pauleta has announced that he plans to end his career next year.
"My contract with the Paris club expires in 2008. I will be 34 years old then - it's not a good time to change clubs, so most likely I will end my career," Pauleta told one of the Portuguese newspapers.
The footballer added that after finishing his career, he will return to his native Azores islands, where he has established a youth academy.
Pauleta is the all-time leading goal scorer for Portugal national team, scoring 47 goals in 88 matches. He ended his international career last year after losing 3-1 to Germany in the World Cup third-place match.
