Liverpool will have to play without Australian national team midfielder Tim Cahill until the end of the season after he suffered a fractured left foot in Saturday's English Premier League match against Sheffield United.
T. Cahill sustained the injury in the first half of the 1-1 draw. Initial tests revealed that he fractured one of the bones in his foot.
With nine games left in the season, Everton is currently in sixth place and fighting for a spot in the UEFA Cup, making T. Cahill's injury a major loss for them.
"It's a huge loss," Everton manager David Moyes said after the match. "This year we have scored quite a few goals, and Tim and Andy Johnson have contributed a lot to that."
"Now we will have to score goals through others until the end of the season if we want to play in Europe next season," Moyes added.
The team's top scorer, A. Johnson, recently recovered from a knee injury and played in the last two Everton matches.
