After the Baltic Football League match between FBK "Kaunas" and guests from Narva, Estonia, "Trans," which ended with a score of 3-2, the coach of the latter team, Valerijus Bondarenko, admitted that the Lithuanian team's football players were superior today and deserved the victory.
"From the very beginning of the match, "Kaunas" football players dominated the field," said the "Trans" coach. "Our opponents played beautiful, technical football today, while we only responded with counterattacks, after which we managed to score two goals."
"The team played chaotically in certain episodes, but these are only our first official matches this season, so the players are not playing as expected yet," the strategist said.
"We failed to attack with full force, so after scoring a goal, we focused all our attention on defense. A team where every player defends in the end still manages to concede a goal, as happened with us," continued the "Trans" coach. "The "Kaunas" players played better today, and even though we led twice, it was almost impossible to maintain this advantage. There are hardly any teams in Estonia that play this kind of football, so it was difficult for us."
Meanwhile, "Kaunas" coach Vladimir Kurnevas rejoiced after the match that despite conceding two goals, his team still managed to achieve victory.
"It was my debut in the team's official matches," the coach said. "It's nice that we won, even though we fell behind the opponents twice."
"The guys showed character and will today, so we fought hard to win. It's just worrying that we conceded both goals in episodes where it shouldn't have happened. There were similar situations during the training camp in Turkey," said the Russian coach.
When asked about possible favorites in the Baltic Football League, both coaches did not name specific clubs, but unanimously stated that Lithuanian and Latvian teams will compete for the top positions.
"Estonian football is currently slightly behind Lithuanian and Latvian teams, but the season is just beginning and the true strength of the clubs will be revealed later," said the Estonian team's coach. "However, it must be admitted that Lithuanian and Latvian clubs will probably compete for the top positions in the league this season."
