Attacker Fernando Morientes mentioned to the press that he wants to play against his former employers, the Madrid club.
During the mid-season break, the Madrid club loaned their striker to the "Monaco" team until the end of the season. Now the UEFA Champions League draw has determined that these teams will face each other in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Morientes admits that it will be very strange to return to the "Santiago Bernabeu" representing another team, but promised to celebrate if he manages to score a goal.
"Even before the draw ceremony, I felt that we would have to play against the Madrid club." the striker said.
"When the paper with the inscription "Real" was drawn, the first thought that came to my mind was to call my former teammates."
"I think the draw is not unfavorable for us, and that the Madrid club is a more convenient opponent for us than either or ."
"The match at the "Santiago Bernabeu" will be something special for me."
"I don't think I have anything to prove to anyone, except myself and my coach."
"The most dangerous games for us are away games. "Real" just lost the Spanish King's Cup final, so I don't want everything to be clear after the first match."
"It will be very difficult for me to play at the stadium where I spent more than one year, so if I score a goal, I want the "Real" fans to understand me and not condemn me."
Morientes claims that he feels like he has rediscovered himself at Monaco, but he speaks very cautiously about the possibility of completely leaving the Madrid club.
"I have felt fantastic at Monaco from the very first day." continued Fernando.
"I feel important to the "Monaco" team and it delights me, especially after an unsuccessful previous season."
