Continuing to prepare for the season, Klaipėda has invited former Nigerian U-23 national team forward Alfred Emoefe Emuejaraye for a trial, as well as Belarusian players Viktor Afanasenko and Aleksandr Osipovičius who have already played in the "A League."

The 24-year-old Nigerian is expected to join the seaside club in the near future, while V. Afanasenko and A. Osipovičius, as reported by "Vakarų ekspresas," have already played in the "Palangos Juzės" tournament matches against the Liepaja "Metalurgs" reserves.

A.E. Emuejaraye, who recently belonged to the Swiss Zurich "Grasshoppers" team, gained some unfortunate fame in his homeland: four years ago, the forward, along with several U-23 national team players, demanded that the Nigerian Football Association pay them $4000 each (about 11,000 litas) before the "All Africa" tournament final against Cameroon.

After Nigeria lost the final 2-0, all the rebels were disqualified by the Nigerian Football Association's decision, but later, after all players publicly apologized, the punishments were lifted.

It is worth mentioning that A.E. Emuejaraye was the top scorer of the Nigerian U-23 national team in that tournament.

In the summer of 2006, A.E. Emuejaraye played on loan for the Singaporean club "Gombak" from the Swiss club, where he hoped to regain his fitness and represent the Zurich club again. However, the Nigerian did not manage to establish himself in the Swiss club.
